Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, trained through iPEC’s ICF-accredited coach training program, Master Resilience Trainer, MBA, and PMP. Through Choosing Success, I help people and organizations stop leading by accident. Let’s talk about where you are and where you’re headed.

I told myself and my soldiers that for 23 years. The most important position you’ll ever play is the one you hold with yourself. Get that right, and you’ll know how to leave fingerprints that matter and footprints others can follow. Years ago, I listened to one of my mentors, now a retired general, observe that we lead mostly by accident. It stuck with me. The more closely I watched, the more I saw that we also lead by adaptation, accommodation, and attrition. We’re taught that leadership is about intellect and time in the job. So I ask two questions: If experience measures time in the job, what measures ability in the job? And why does the smartest person in the room still fail to connect? I believe the answer is how we choose, consciously or unconsciously, to see what’s in front of us.That’s why I built the FACTS System™: Feelings, Actions, Choices, Time. It isn’t just an acronym. It’s a system for anywhere life asks you to respond instead of react: leading teams, leading at home, building relationships, and leading yourself. Alongside it, TALE (Triggers, Assumptions, Limited Ideas, Expectations) uncovers the hidden beliefs that keep good people and good teams stuck. Circumstances don’t change. You do. You choose how you feel about them, how you respond, and you take back your agency. Same facts. A different you.
